US Customs and Border Protection officials claim that Mexican cartels have been using drones to locate authorities along the US-Mexico border, making it easier to smuggle drugs and people.
According to Air Force General Gregory M. Guillot, the top commander of the United States Northern Command, there are approximately more than 1,000 drone incursions into the U.S. from its southern border each month.
When asked how long it would take to reach that number of incursions at the southern border, Guillot responded, "I would say in probably over a month, we probably have more than a thousand each month.” According to the Pentagon
Authorities found drone footage in January 2023 of Border Patrol agents who were reportedly shot by human smugglers during a search of what was thought to be a safe house used to conceal migrants who were breaking the law by crossing the US-Mexico border.
