After a deadly UAS strike took lives of 3 US servicemen and wounded more than 30 in northeastern Jordan, the drone that was used in the attack was confirmed to be an Iranian-made Shahed. Popular Mobilization Forces of Iraq are claimed to be responsible for the strike.

"We have not seen a situation as dangerous as the one we're facing now across the region since at least 1973. ... The U.S. response to the drone strike in Jordan could be multi-leveled, come in stages and be sustained over time" - Secretary of State Anthony J. Blinken stated

However, Pentagon stated that it is not seeking an all-out war with Iran. Although inaction is not an option, over-reaction to the attack could ignite another regional war in the Middle East

Main targets are suggested to be:

- PMU/HQ Storages in Iraq

- Iran affiliated locations in Syria

- Iranian naval assets - Gulf of Aden
