In the occupied Georgian region of Abkhazia, Russia is finishing up a port for a naval military facility situated in the city of Ochamchire.
Russian occupation forces plan to use the new military port to station and deploy warships in the area it has taken over in Georgia. Construction is still ongoing.
The port is located just 30 kilometers from the Georgian-controlled parts of the supposed border.
The foreign ministry of Georgia declared that it would be a "flagrant violation of Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity".
Experts say that Russia is trying to compensate its naval forces in the Black Sea after suffering recent losses in seaside combat against Ukraine.
