Israeli PM’s suggestion that a 100-yard buffer zone in Gaza which includes a border region to Egypt be taken by IDF caused an outrage among Egyptian officials.
"The Philadelphi Corridor — or to put it more correctly, the southern stoppage point [of the Gaza Strip] — must be in our hands. It must be shut, — It is clear that any other arrangement would not ensure the demilitarization that we seek. " stated Benjamin Netyanhu.
Egyptian State Information Service labelled the Israeli government following the statement as "[being led] extremist leaders who seek to drag the region into a state of conflict and instability."
The Head of Egypt's State Information Service (SIS), Diaa Rashwan, lashed out Monday at Netanyahu's declaration as "an attempt to create legitimacy" for what he said was the Israeli government's real goal of occupying the border corridor in violation of security agreements signed between the two neighbors.
The Egyptian authorities officially accused Israel of lying about the status of the border between Israel and Egypt and Egypt and Gaza to, as they state, “market an attempt at occupation”.
More than three months have passed after Hamas’s brutal attack on Israel, as the latter is considering taking bold measures to ensure their territorial safety.
