From January 31, 2024, NATO forces will begin the Steadfast Defender 2024 exercise in the trans-Atlantic regions.
The forces of all 31 countries of the alliance will be involved in the exercise. The military exercises will be the largest by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization since the end of the Cold War
"The Alliance will demonstrate its ability to reinforce the Euro-Atlantic area via trans-Atlantic movement of forces from North America"
US EUCOM chief Christopher Cavoli emphasized that Russia has increased its military spending in light of its military operations in Ukraine, which began in February 2022. He noted that the military spending of the NATO forces should be increased in the short term, because the European allies also supply Ukraine with military equipment and ammunition.
