The director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) stated that Iran has shut down its nuclear facilities due to "security considerations" amid rumours that Israel might attack Iran's nuclear facilities in retaliation for the Iranian attack on its land. The Chief of Staff of the Israel Defence Forces has stated that Israel will retaliate against the Iranian attack.
"What I can tell you is that our inspectors in Iran were informed by the Iranian government yesterday that all the nuclear facilities that we are inspecting every day would remain closed on security considerations," the IAEA director stated after announcing that the organization's inspections had temporarily ceased this week.
He added that although the nuclear facilities were supposed to open for inspections on Monday, they chose to postpone it by one day.
"We always call for extreme restraint, but this hasn't affected our inspection activity," he said.
When reporters questioned Grossi if he was worried that Israel may strike Iran's nuclear facilities, he replied, "We're always concerned about that possibility".
