In reaction to Russia's invasion of Ukraine two years ago, Germany's defense minister stated on Thursday that the Bundeswehr would be reorganized with a new central command and a separate cyberspace section.
The Bundeswehr will receive a new central command to replace various foreign and domestic formations, with an emphasis on a potential conflict in Europe.
The cyber branch's responsibilities will include electronic warfare, such as field-wide equipment jamming of adversaries.
In addition, it will be in charge of combating "hybrid threats," which can involve misinformation and sabotage. The army, navy, and air force are being joined by the cyber and information command as complete branches of the armed forces.
