The Georgian Parliament approved a new Draft Law on Weapons, confirmed by 81 votes. Of note are the firearms provisions, which differentiate between defense and hunting weapons. Specifically, firearms with a total length of less than 55cm (22in) shall be considered defensive weapons. All other legal firearms of greater length are considered hunting weapons.
Further, the draft law gives police the right to inspect and confirm adherence to weapon storage rules. In the event police are refused entry to the premises on which any such weapon is registered, the owner of the firearm shall have seven days to appear in person and deliver their weapons to the police department.
